This website, mertmetin.ca, is run by Mert Metin, a real estate sales representative with Royal LePage Integrity Realty, Brokerage, in Ottawa. This policy explains what personal information the site collects, why, who it’s shared with, and the choices you have.

What the site collects
- What you send through a form. When you contact me, request a home valuation, book a buyer consultation, ask for a market report or guide, sign up for the newsletter, or ask a calculator to email you a breakdown, the site collects what you enter: your name, email address, phone number and details such as a property address, the type of home, what you’re looking for, and the numbers you entered in the calculator. Numbers you type into a calculator stay in your browser unless you ask to have the breakdown emailed to you.
- If you become a client. Federal anti-money-laundering law requires me to verify your identity before I act for you in a purchase or sale, usually by viewing a government-issued photo ID, and to record your name, address, date of birth, occupation and ID details. These records are kept for at least five years, as FINTRAC requires. Why I ask for your ID.
- Comments and sign-in. To comment on an article you sign in with Facebook or Google. The site then receives your name, email address and profile photo from that service and creates a basic account for you. Your comment, name and photo are shown publicly once approved; your email address is never shown. The site never posts anything to your Facebook or Google account.
- How you use the site, if you accept cookies. Only if you click “Accept” in the cookie banner, Google Analytics uses cookies to collect information such as the pages you visit, how you arrived, your device and browser, and your approximate location. It doesn’t give me your name or contact details.
Why I use it
- To reply to you and provide what you asked for, such as a valuation, a market report or an emailed breakdown.
- To follow up about buying or selling a home, if you contacted me about it.
- To send the newsletter, only if you signed up for it. It’s sent through Follow Up Boss, and every email includes a link to unsubscribe.
- To understand which pages and tools are useful, and improve the site.
I don’t sell your personal information.
Who it’s shared with
- Follow Up Boss, the contact management service I use to keep track of inquiries and send the newsletter.
- Google, which provides Google Analytics (only if you accept cookies).
- Meta (Facebook) and Google, when you choose to sign in with them to comment. Their own privacy policies apply to that sign-in.
- Web Hosting Canada, which hosts this website and its database.
- Royal LePage Integrity Realty, Brokerage, and, with your consent, others involved in your purchase or sale (for example a lawyer or lender), when needed to provide real estate services. The brokerage has its own privacy practices for the information it holds; ask me or the brokerage for details.
- Anyone the law requires me to share it with.
Some of these providers store information outside Canada, including in the United States, where it may be accessible to authorities under local law.
Content from other services
Some parts of the site load from other companies, which receive your IP address and browser details when they do: fonts and the map in the footer (Google), maps on neighbourhood pages (OpenStreetMap or MapTiler), and videos, which load from YouTube only when you press play. The WhatsApp and Messenger buttons are plain links: nothing is shared with Meta unless you click one, and then Meta’s privacy policies apply.
Cookies and your choices
Google Analytics cookies are off unless you click “Accept” in the cookie banner. You can change your choice at any time with “Cookie settings” at the bottom of every page; declining stops Analytics and removes its cookies. You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings, or install Google’s Google Analytics opt-out browser add-on. The site works fully without them.
How long it’s kept
I keep your information only as long as needed for the purposes above, or as long as the law or real estate regulations require. Inquiries that don’t lead to working together are deleted from the website and Follow Up Boss after 2 years. If you become a client, identification and transaction records are kept for at least five years, as FINTRAC and real estate regulations require. Newsletter subscribers stay on the list until they unsubscribe.
Your rights
You can ask to see the personal information I hold about you, correct it, withdraw your consent or have it deleted, subject to legal and regulatory requirements. This includes deleting your comments and the account created when you signed in with Facebook or Google. Contact me using the details above and I’ll respond within 30 days.
If you’re not satisfied with my response, you can contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. Quebec residents can also contact the Commission d’accès à l’information du Québec.
